MAJORSELL Range of Brake Chambers

Brake chambers play a critical role in a vehicle's braking system, specifically in commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses. They are essential components that convert compressed air into mechanical force to apply the brakes and control the vehicle's speed.

The function of brake chambers is to convert the energy stored in the compressed air system into a mechanical force that activates the brake shoes or brake pads. When the driver applies the brakes, the brake chambers receive pressurized air from the brake system, causing the diaphragm inside the chamber to move. This movement, in turn, activates a pushrod or slack adjuster, which then applies force to the brake mechanism, resulting in the friction required to slow down or stop the vehicle.

Brake chambers are designed to provide a reliable and efficient braking action. They are typically categorized into two types: spring brake chambers and service brake chambers.

Spring brake chambers serve as emergency/parking brakes. When the air pressure is released or interrupted, the compressed spring within the chamber engages, applying the brakes automatically. This feature is crucial for parking or in the event of an air system failure.

Service brake chambers, on the other hand, are responsible for the vehicle's normal braking operation. They receive compressed air from the brake system when the driver applies the brakes, converting it into the mechanical force that engages the brake shoes or pads and creates friction to slow down or stop the vehicle.
